Recipe for a Perfect Weekend

Nicole heads for Mt Angeles on Saturday

Ingredients:
Good friends – I sent an email out to some friends to inquire about spending a weekend in Pt Angeles and showshoeing both days at Hurricane Ridge. Nicole responded quickly to say that she was interested and from there, the wheels were in motion.
a backcountry skier's dream

Good food and reasonable lodging – the Downtown Hotel in Pt Angeles was a nice place to stay and a great deal, especially considering its proximity to many restaurants and the waterfront. We dined Saturday night at Bella Italia, enjoying Neah Bay Halibut and grass-fed tenderloin beef. No dessert needed.

Fabulous weather – all I can say is, we were lucky. I have felt the full force of Hurricane Ridge's namesake wind in the past, but this past weekend we had blue skies, blazing sun and light breezes.

Mix in:

A Mountaineers group of fun and fit adventurous folks (the leader, Mike, provided us the necessary momentum for this trip to happen)

Recent snowfall that had consolidated so that avalanche danger was not much of an issue, but still provided plenty of off-route plunge-stepping in fresh, deep snow. I even took my pants off!

Stir for Two Days:
Yes, 2 days of fabulous weather, great company and awesome snow! I was in heaven... blissed out to the point of hugging everyone and falling behind the group due to taking so many photos with my SLR.
